Paul F. HeatonPaul F. Heaton is the Managing Member of Gass Weber Mullins, and is one of the firm’s five founding partners. Mr. Heaton’s primary areas of practice include life, health and disability insurance litigation; personal, property and casualty, and comprehensive general liability coverage litigation; and commercial litigation. Mr. Heaton obtained his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Marquette University, and graduated summa cum laude and first in his class at Marquette University Law School. Mr. Heaton returned to private practice after serving as Vice President-Litigation Counsel for The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a Fortune 500 company. Mr. Heaton was responsible for the direction and oversight of all of Northwestern Mutual’s litigation, including lawsuits arising out of the company’s insurance and investment products and services, real estate and securities investments, sales and distribution system, and regulatory compliance obligations. In this role, Mr. Heaton also worked closely with the company’s risk management and communications professionals to address enterprise liability and risk assessment, as well as corporate reputation and communications crisis management. Mr. Heaton has served on the Litigation Committee and the Class Action Subcommittee of the American Council of Life Insurers. Mr. Heaton is a member of the Association of Life Insurance Counsel, and is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Wisconsin, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan and for the Southern District of Indiana, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. |
