Attorney Ric Gass has achieved many extraordinary things
in a legal career that has spanned decades, and includes more than 300 trials brought to verdict. Among the most remarkable is his recent defense of a medical malpractice case in Oklahoma. After the conclusion of arguments, the jury needed a mere eight minutes (less time than it normally takes for a jury to select a foreperson) to deliberate before returning a complete defense verdict. Gass represented an Ear Nose and Throat specialist accused of performing unnecessary sinus surgery on a patient. Gass tried a related case for the same client in January which similarly resulted in a complete defense verdict. Gass believes that the successive victories will effectively abrogate remaining claims against the physician. In an interview conducted shortly after the trial, Gass stated, “We have determined these two cases have put a stake in the heart of the other claims.”
